Changes Coming at Radio Meltdown . . .

Although we’re the newest radio station around, we have been very fortunate in the DJs we have attracted and in how we have been welcomed and embraced by our listeners, loyal MELTHEADS  all.

When we began this venture in Late December, we were trying to get on the air as soon as we could and accomplished a rather remarkable start-up in a short period of time thanks to our DJs, our sponsors and especially, our listeners.

Now that we have had the time, we would like to make changes that will ensure our continued broadcasting and to expand the RADIO MELTDOWN EXPERIENCE beyond playing music:  to blog sites, live interviews, and providing on-demand content.

In order to continue to provide you, the listeners and followers of Radio Meltdown with the best possible levels of continued service, we are changing our hosting service to a company we feel is more reliable and responsive to our technical needs.

Just after midnight Sunday, on March 26th, we will be changing over to a new server for broadcasting our stream.   While the stream will still be available on the old server until sometime Tuesday night, thereafter all listeners   will have to go to our new stream address for our programming.

The new  stream address for Radio Meltdown is http://173.192.48.97:8312/stream (the link is optimized for Winamp-compatible players)

This address will also be available in the topic section of the #RadioMeltdown  chat room starting Sunday night.  The web site and links will be updated to reflect the new stream by Tuesday,  March 27th.  Listeners who tune in to the old server after midnight Sunday will be given a message upon connecting directing them to the new stream before connecting to the broadcast.

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone responsible for our success:  the DJ’s the sponsors and, YOU, our listeners, and we hope to continue improving the quality of our presentations.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

 Rock on!

The Loudest Cat in Creation

"
"Yeah?   What?!"

As many of the listeners to my Sunday afternoon show, Musical Intrusions, are aware I share my home with a cat.  Not just any cat, a vocal and talkative cat.  A LOUD, vocal and talkative catTiger has always been that way, and since kitten-hood in a multi-cat two-person household, always been very definitively MY cat; very demonstrative and with a decidedly dog-like tendency to follow me around from room to room (when not off snoozing).  In the unfortunate circumstance that a closed door exists between us, Tiger not only 'meows' at the threshold, but has learned to press his snout to the bottom of the door so that the sound of him, already preternaturally loud, carries directly into the room and in some cases is even amplified by bouncing off the floor.  I just don't bother closing him out of rooms I am in anymore; it was more of an issue when we were a multi-cat household.  Alas, Tiger is the last of his adopted siblings and always been rather devoted to me.  So when he sees me sitting at the computer wearing a strange get-up on my head, and talking, his very cat-like vanity assumes I must be addressing him and he answers.  There are enough cat lovers around; you know how it goes.

"And catnip is for pussies!!"
Could be worse.  I could be sharing my domicile with this little fellow instead.  Count yer blessings!

The little guy in the video below is not a young Tiger, but it amply demonstrates why some of us live with cats.

Intruder broadcasts his show from Tampa, in the sunny state of Florida in the USA; the weekly show is heard from 3-6pm (Eastern US) on Radio Meltdown, an eclectic blend of genres ranging from metal to acoustic to jazz, blues and even the odd C&W number (when he thinks He||s Be||e isn't listening).
